TapIn Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 4, 2026
TapIn is a campus events app developed and operated by Wyeast Productions ("we," "us," "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what information TapIn collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By creating an account or using TapIn, you agree to the practices described here.
Information We Collect
Account information. When you sign up, we collect your email address, which must be verified for your school before you can create a student or student-organization account. Depending on your account type, we also collect:
-
Students: your name, an optional profile photo, and optional fields you may choose to add (major, age, gender, housing location). Age, gender, and housing location are kept private and are never shown to other users.
-
Student organizations: your club name (shown publicly), plus a contact email, representative name, and representative phone number (kept private, used only for verification and account contact).
-
Businesses: your business name (shown publicly), plus a contact email, representative name, and representative phone number (kept private).
Content you create. Events you post (title, description, category, location, date/time, banner image, cost, and capacity if you set one), events you subscribe to, and any reports you file against events or users.
Photos. If you upload a profile photo or an event banner image, it's stored in our cloud storage (Firebase Storage) and may be visible to other users as part of your profile or event listing.
Event location. TapIn does not access your device's GPS location. When you post an event, the address you enter is converted to map coordinates using Mapbox so it can be displayed on the map — we don't track where you personally are.
Push notifications. If you allow notifications, we store a device push token so we can send you alerts about events you've subscribed to, moderation notices, and featured-event announcements. You can disable this anytime in your device settings.
Payment information. Businesses that pay to promote an event listing are charged through Stripe's hosted checkout. TapIn never sees or stores your card number — Stripe handles that directly. We only store whether an event's payment is complete and a Stripe receipt reference.
Moderation data. To keep the platform safe, we track strikes against an account and whether an account has been flagged or restricted from posting, based on user reports reviewed by an administrator. This information is not visible to other users.
How We Use Information
-
To create and operate your account and verify eligibility (e.g., school email verification)
-
To let you post, discover, and subscribe to campus events
-
To send notifications you've opted into
-
To process paid event listings via Stripe
-
To review reports, enforce our community guidelines, and keep the platform safe
-
To maintain and improve the app
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use advertising or analytics tracking SDKs in TapIn.
How Information Is Shared
We share information only with the service providers that power TapIn, and only as needed to operate the app:
-
Google Firebase — authentication, database, cloud storage, and push notification delivery infrastructure
-
Mapbox — converts event addresses into map coordinates and renders the map
-
Stripe — processes payments for paid business listings
-
Expo — delivers push notifications to your device
Some information you choose to make public — such as your name/club/business name, profile photo, and posted events — is visible to other TapIn users by design. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of our users.
Data Retention & Deletion
We retain your account and content for as long as your account is active. You can delete an event you've posted at any time from within the app. To request deletion of your account and associated personal data, email us at info@wyeastproductions.com. We'll complete deletion requests within a reasonable time, except where we're required to retain certain records (for example, payment records) for legal or accounting purposes.
Children's Privacy
TapIn is intended for college students, student organizations, and businesses affiliated with participating university communities, and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Security
We rely on Firebase's security infrastructure and access-controlled database rules to protect your information. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data using industry-standard practices.

You can review and update your profile information from within the app.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above. Continued use of TapIn after changes take effect means you accept the revised policy.
